Spiritual Nordic Christmas #5

For spiritualists, the symbols of Christmas have different meanings than for Christians. The star on the tree symbolises the sun that shall return. The sparkling glitter is reflections of its rays. The spheres of decoration are symbols of the universe and the planets. The lights in the tree are the stars in the sky. The tree itself represents the earth and fertility. This evergreen plant reminds us of summer and what gives life and sustains this abundance.

Having candles lit in the living room, is for us a way to celebrate the equinox and that the sun’s light shall grace the earth anew. These candles are also to honour those who have passed over, reminding us of their glowing eternal souls flickering their presence in our lives.
