Envisage your new normal

with my great great-aunt Gerd Evans who since peacefully passed to spirit

An empty book to be filled, maybe even more,

With dreams, adventures, memories replete

From love held, love lost and love found.

All the crazy stories evoking laughter and tears

Each chapter a struggle of overcoming fears

For always something was not quite right

That perfect state was always out of grasp

That would magically grant us happiness

As if it couldn’t be found amongst our pages

But alas, look again, between the lines,

Even in the energy of the words,

There is care even by someone saying

How do you do, and awaiting our reply

Because under and over and in these words

Is benevolent compassion, cheering us on

Seeing our struggle and wishing us joy

Despite it all, even though we wish for more

They give us an invisible unwrapped gift

To receive the feeling of having all we want

Everything we think seems nearly impossible

Is granted to us in their heartfelf thoughts

And this gives us just enough strength,

The right amount of courage to trod on,

To put another foot in front of the other

Toward creating what we want in life

Instead of stopping up, stuck, giving up

This spark from another says more

Than words express and though a picture

Could say a thousand of these words

There is far more, contained here

For this hidden support works

In a myriad of mysterious ways

That while we can think that we can’t,

Can’t be bothered, can’t manage, can’t cope

These havens of hope given by others

Open glimpses of our dreams fulfilled

While gently teaching us the lesson

That to truly feel is what’s real

Thus envision your new normal come

To life, and yet in this way,

You’ll know what you have is worth

You’ll hold that loved one close

In appreciation of soulful connection

And having your life as you’d like

The everyday becomes sublime

Even the basic brown earth, leaves

The wind chiming and sun shining

Nothing is taken for granted now

As you put in the time, you strove

To bring about this new reality

And it was well worth the wait.
